Stoner Hill is where tourists, travelers, downtown workers and young homeless people meet in downtown Denver. The outdoor community gathers most days on a grassy mound overlooking Commons Park and a row of upscale new apartment buildings along the South Platte. They come for a safe hangout, for company, for a place to smoke weed in public without often getting a ticket, or maybe even to buy weed. Their neighbors would like them to go, and inspired the city to fence off the hill for months. When the fence came down, new security cameras went up. Eventually, the park may be redesigned to disperse the denizens of Stoner Hill — but in the meantime, the place continues to attract a crowd. Here's a look at the people on Stoner Hill one recent afternoon. Photos by Anthony Camera.
