The heart of the Wild West apparently has some Francophile blood in it. That’s what the annual French Summer Soiree, put on by the Alliance Française de Denver would seem to indicate: How else to explain a frou-frou French party taking place in our very own cowtown? Held in the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Monet Garden — a tribute to the artist’s renowned flowers of Giverny — the event will feature music, mimes, magicians, live statues, a fortune teller and a caricaturist. Guests will sample delicious food from the six best French restaurants Denver has to offer, along with wines from a range of wineries. The evening closes with private garden tours and a silent auction to benefit the local Alliance, which was co-founded by Molly Brown (yet another Western connection) in 1897 and is one of Denver’s oldest non-profit organizations.
Get Frenched tonight from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at the Gardens, 1005 York Street. Tickets are $57 for Alliance Française members, $67 for non-members and $75 at the door. To RSVP or for more information, call 303-831-0304 or visit www.afdenver.org.
