After a brief love affair with house-music icons Derrick Carter and Mark Farina, Berlin-via-Brooklyn’s Camea turned to classic techno labels such as Perlon, Playhouse and Minus, and those sounds quickly became a big part of her deejaying repertoire. Her distinct techno-house hybrid — not tech-house in the strictest sense, though it retains some of the housey elements of her early days — has become known worldwide, and she’s established herself as one of the dominant forces in techno today. Her label, Clink Recordings, boasts an impressive roster: Alexi Delano, Mark Henning, Mikael Stavöstrand and Tony Rohr, among others. One of the very few American women to achieve measurable success on the international dance-music stage, Camea makes her Colorado debut as headliner of the inaugural Great American Techno Festival, alongside Tim Xavier.
