DIVAS for Change is what happens when a small group of professional women in Boulder decide to throw fun, philanthropic parties that benefit less-fortunate women. The Roaring 1920s Cocktail Benefit, says member Kate Linehan, is what happens when these divas decide to “do a twist on the traditional kind of formal, sit-down fundraiser thing.” But what happens when the event — which features burlesque dancing by the Cherry on Top dance troupe, period music by DJ Heidi Heidi and 1920s cuisine served up by some of Boulder’s best lady chefs — is closed to men? According to Linehan, the same thing that happens every time the girls get together without any boy-baggage: “We just tend to cut a little more loose.”
You don’t say. Tickets for tonight’s benefit — which roars from 7 to 11 p.m. at Tahona Tequila Bistro, 1035 Pearl Street in Boulder — are $45. All proceeds benefit local charities. Get details at www.divasforchange.org or 720-255-3490.
