You might recognize Buddha Bomb’s name from fliers for Gypsie Nation, the weekly trans-dance night at the Avalon Ballroom in Boulder. You might also recognize Buddha Bomb’s voice from his regular appearances as a producer on KGNU Community Radio’s Electronic Air techno show. But you probably wouldn’t recognize the 55-year-old former psychedelic day-tripper turned Buddhist turned software developer/celebrated psytrance DJ if you saw him on the street. No matter: Get a good look at him from 2 to 4 a.m. tomorrow morning as he serves up an indigenous tribal-psychedelic worldbeat techno set at the Emerald Forest Dance Party, a fundraiser to benefit KGNU. From 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. at the Avalon, 6185 Arapahoe Avenue, Buddha Bomb (real name: Jim Jobson) — along with Josh Ivy, Attentat and Mikey Fisher — will break beats and blow minds in an atmosphere of papier-mâché plants, Day-Glo mushrooms, colorful visual displays and costumed elves, fairies and forest characters. The event is all-ages and alcohol-free; tickets are $10. Get more information at www.buddhabomb.net or www.kgnu.org, or by calling 303-449-4885.
Sat., April 28, 8 p.m.-4 a.m.
