What do we love about house tours? Snooping. Sticking our noses where they don’t belong, because for one day a year, we can. And dreaming: rampaging have-nots treading where only the haves have gone before. Kitchens That Cook!, the annual kitchen tour hosted by the Junior League of Denver, fulfills such fantasies on all levels.
This year’s expanded self-guided tour, open to the public today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., is a nine-kitchen blowout, with a pre-tour brunch and silent auction at the Denver Country Club and food samples and chef demonstrations along the way. JLD spokeswoman Laurie Brian says tour-goers will enjoy a totally different kitchen experience at each location: “They are all so unique. Some are designed with family in mind, another is especially pet-friendly, and one, belonging to a gallery owner, is filled with contemporary artwork.”
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the tour; for information and reservations, visit www.jld.org.
