$20,000

Just heard that Swallow Hill Music Association is sponsoring a contest for middle and high school age songwriters. They’re soliciting recordings of original works on tape, CD or DVD of acoustic and electric acts from one to four members. Winners will play their songs at a special concert at Swallow Hill in March, and there is some mention of other prizes as well.

If you’re a teen reading this (or more likely, know one) that’s creating music in Denver, this could be a good chance to get some exposure and experience. The deadline for submissions is January 7, 2009, so get cracking. E-mail Jan Kirkland or call her at 303-733-2003. You can also visit their MySpace page for additional info. — Cory Casciato
