The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
Mike Schleipfer, also known as DJMC, has amassed a lot of strangely compelling music during his eight years at KGNU — and now he’s got a new place to put it. Beginning at midnight tonight, and continuing every second and fourth Wednesday night/Thursday morning, A to Z With DJMC will feature three hours of intriguing sounds from Schleipfer’s extensive library of mostly local music, running the gamut from Apples in Stereo to Zombie Zombie. “I’ve got experimental stuff, old-school hip-hop, underground hip-hop and a lot of noisy rock,” he notes, adding, “If it takes too long to go through all of it, I might mash some of it up.”
Sounds messy — but in a good way.
KGNU is at 88.5 FM in Boulder and 1390 AM in Denver. For more information, go to www.kgnu.org or www.loopnote.com/djmc.
