Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch

The Colorado hills are alive with the sound of music every summer, in venues as spectacular as Red Rocks Amphitheatre and as posh as the Aspen Music Festival tent. But the most charming setting of all could be the Cherokee Ranch & Castle, the stunning property in Sedalia that longtime resident rancher Tweet Kimball sold to Douglas County in a conservation easement in 1996. As the consummate hostess, Kimball would appreciate the current performance series now based in her old home. And tonight at 6:30 p.m. on the Castle veranda, Malcolm Lynn Baker, director of jazz studies at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, will present The Electric Works, a contemporary quartet reinterpreting jazz-fusion classics.
