The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
It’s no secret that wine and food become more potent at a high altitude: The buzz goes straight to your head, while the flavors mingle more heavily. That’s possibly why attending the ultra-luxe Steamboat Wine Festival, held at 6,728 feet, leaves you feeling something like a bee drunk on rum cake.
For the next three days, Steamboat will be all rich and woozy with wine and food, food and wine, beginning this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Wine on the Mountain Kick-Off Celebration that includes a dizzying evening gondola ride. The foodie fun continues on Friday with a wine-logged Stroll of Steamboat from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday with a Toast of Steamboat Grand Tasting from 3 to 6 p.m. Admission to individual events starts at $25 (packages start at $175); for reservations, tickets and information about ongoing seminars and winemaker dinners, call 1-877-328-2783 or visit www.steamboatwinefestival.com. Bon appétit!
