Jesse Rose seems to be shooting for the title of hardest-working man in dance music. He runs three labels (Front Room Recordings, Loungin’ and Made to Play), has released a slew of twelve-inches and EPs over the past few years, and has remixed dozens of tracks for artists including Armand van Helden, Simian Mobile Disco and Underworld. This year, he issued the Body Language mixed disc and also has a solo album in the works. Add to that a headlining DJ tour that will bring him to Vinyl this Friday, September 21, and you have to wonder when the man finds time to sleep. His productions and DJ sets feature a taut, minimal style that recalls classic Chicago house and Detroit techno while maintaining a modern edge via glitchy ticks, top-notch production, clever samples and stellar synth programming. Rose may not be a household name yet, but at the rate he’s going — and with the quality of his production — he will be soon.
