Along with the number zero, the compass, the kite and the seismograph, China apparently cornered the market on Barnum and Bailey-style acrobatics thousands of years before kids in Idaho ran away to join the circus. Tonight, the Peking Acrobats will perform gravity-defying stunts with roots as far back as the Ch’in Dynasty (that’s 221 B.C. to 207 B.C., for anyone who fell asleep in history class) on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus.
“We’re bringing a 2,000-year-old tradition to Macky Auditorium,” says venue director Kristin Anderson. Expect everything from somersaulting, piling a pagoda of chairs with people on top and trick-cycling to jar-juggling, precision tumbling and wire-walking.
