One of the best things about this time of year — culinarily speaking — is the abundance of fresh herbs you can pop in your pot while you’re dishing up something tasty. Maybe you don’t have your own garden, but the Denver Botanic Gardens does, and a harvest of fresh herbs from that facility will be feature in tonight’s cooking demonstration, “How to Cook With Aromatic Herbs,” at Le Central, 112 East Eighth Avenue, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The class continues on the second Tuesday of every month; you’ll learn how to use the volatile essence of such seasonings as basil, bay, capers, cloves, mint, juniper, marjoram, rosemary, saffron, sage, savory, thyme and more to prepare a three-course meal. Afterward, you’ll get to sit down and enjoy the meal you just prepared (and get a booklet of recipes to take home). Admission is $38 for DBG members and $43 for the general public; for more info, go to www.botanicgardens.org for more information.
