It’s been a long fall for the businesses along Tennyson Street, already bumping along in a bad economy — and then suffering through a major construction project that had the road in front of their addresses completely ripped up.
But today, there’s reason to celebrate on this street: The Mile High Business Alliance is using Tennyson for the kickoff party for Buy Local Week.
The festivities kick off at Big Hoss B-B-Q, where Mayor Michael Hancock and members of Denver City Council are talking about the joys of buying local….and eating and drinking local, too, with food not just from Big Hoss, but also Hops & Pie and the Winey Bean.
From there, you can stroll up and down Tennyson between 38th to 44th avenues, one of the most active restaurant neighborhoods in the city, taking advantage of special deals in the shops, checking out the spot at 3901 Tennyson that’s now home to Axios, and then crossing the street (an activity that’s now possible) to see progress on the expanding Hops & Pies, and maybe get a beer (or two).
