Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You
We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
In the halcyon days of the Denver dance scene, circa the late ’90s, Vitamin D was everywhere. It was rare, in fact, to see a party flier that didn’t have his name on it. These days, Vita’s focused primarily on label work, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still find time to play out at events such as the Know Your Roots party Friday, August 22, at the Root in Boulder. What better opportunity to hear a classic Colorado DJ playing old-school tracks — a 2×4 set with DJ Fury — than at the Root, a place where every old-school head in Colorado has memories? Indications are good that D will throw down some old-timey jungle since he’s paired up with Fury, but whatever he plays, it should be a night to bring back fond feelings among those who were there, as well as a chance for the young’uns to catch up on some of the sounds that helped shape the scene into the vibrant, lively place it is today.
