The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $25,000 by August 9.
Although “Kick or Treat” sounds more like a really sweet option for rogue Halloweeners — wherein costumed delinquents are either given candy or allowed to kick homeowners in the shins, then squeal off into the autumn night — it actually has more to do with soccer. To mark the last home game of the season (against arch-rivals Real Salt Lake, a contest with potential playoff implications) as well as the approach of All Hallows’ Eve, your Colorado Rapids are inviting fans to dress up and trick-or-treat around the concourse at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, 6000 Victory Way in Commerce City. Kickoff isn’t until 7:30 p.m., but gates will be opened an hour earlier, and those passing through in costume will receive a bag to collect all sorts of goodies, with the first 2,000 kids ages sixteen and under receiving a free soccer ball. Free soccer balls! So whether you can’t wait six more days for your gluttonous sugar fix, or you’re just a Rapids fan who wants to hide his face in a mask, Dick’s is the place to be.
