Every week On the Edge is giving you the skinny on where you should be hitting the slopes, as if our humble opinion will somehow make you reconsider your riding loyalties despite having sold your soul for that season pass.

Just in case, you know?

  1. Eldora: With many of the big boys opening
in the past few weeks, snow-hungry skiers and riders have been flocking
to the larger resorts like crackheads to powder. Not to be overlooked, Eldora‘s opening Saturday with a solid 24 inch machine-made base and expects to have four runs and four lifts operating. For those who dig $49 lift tickets, avoiding massive lines and skipping the I-70 drive, Eldora is the place to be this weekend.
  2. Vail:
It’s Vail. It’s opening (albeit with limited terrain). Need we say
more? Yes? How about opening day festivities that include music,
giveaways and Vail’s first Snuggie Pub Crawl presented by Bud Light tonight, not to mention the general good vibes that surround any opening weekend festivities at such a large resort.
  3. Golden Triangle District, Denver This
weekend you can watch the region’s best pro and amateur snowboarders
ride a sick ramp  in the heart of downtown on Saturday in the first
annual Denver Backyard Bang Rail Jam presented by Salomon Snowboards and the Art Institute of Colorado. Not to mention that the entire Salomon Pro Team will be on hand and there will be plenty of demos, giveaways, music, food, drink, and custom snowboard art. Oh yeah, and it’s FREE. Event starts at 11 a.m.
