Paris Nights

Kim Franco, marketing director at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, knows a sad truth about the current economic climate: “People don’t have the money to travel right now,” she says. But every cloud has a silver lining. You might not be able to afford Paris, but you can surely spend a fraction of the cost of a French vacation for an evening of wine discussion with a certified sommelier (accompanied with appropriate and tasty French tidbits), followed by a cabaret concert from accomplished singer Julie Monley, who’s won several awards, including the Best Vocalist prize at the ’97 Jazz Festival de Vienne.

“It’s a staycation,” explains Franco. “We did a Spanish wine-and-food pairing, and we have an Italian one waiting on the back burner for March. You experience the great foods and wines and sounds and sights of the different countries, and coming into Lannie’s is like coming into a different world, anyway. It’s a throwback to old European, French-style theater. It’s a great venue for a staycation.” We would have to agree.
