$20,000

There is only one real rule in life: When things are free, you must take them. And so it is tonight at Starz FilmCenter with a free screening of Gosford Park, Robert Altman’s excellent 2001 murder-mystery, which, as is typical of Altman, largely ignores the murder-mystery part in favor of exploring the ensemble cast of characters and their complicated relationships. It’s part of a Denver Office of Cultural Affairs tie-in with The Help, this year’s boring One Book, One Denver selection, and it has something to do with exploring relationships of class and servitude… or something, but who cares? It’s free, and it’s Robert Altman. Get a trailer and details after the jump.

The show starts tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Starz FilmCenter, 900 Auraria Parkway — and, again, it’s free and open to whoever comes. Just make sure not to sit in front of the Duchess with the candelabra in the library.
