Copper Mountain opened its Olympic-sized 22-foot superpipe on Friday, in time for athletes competing in the The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Sprint U.S. Grand Prix to work on their double corks before next week’s competition, December 5-10. That makes it the first 22-foot pipe of the season in Colorado, and means just about all of the top pro snowboarders and skiers in the U.S. are in town and on the mountain now the U.S. Grand Prix will feature ski halfpipe and ski slopestyle this year, now that both events have been approved as Olympic medal sports).
