Denver takes to the streets at 7 a.m. today as StandUp For Kids kicks off its fourteenth annual 48 Hours on the Streets event. The national nonprofit has a network of more than 5,000 volunteers across the country who reach out to homeless and at-risk youth in more than thirty cities.
In Denver, the volunteers — who are already out on the streets several days a week — will make a concentrated effort to find homeless kids (they estimate there are over 1,300 on the streets) and bring them to a “home base,” where they’ll feed them, give them clothes and provide other services. They’ll also take them to the University of Denver, where students are hosting a special educational event to help the homeless. We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?
We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Denver. We’re aiming to raise $50,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Denver.
