Scalping is illegal in Commerce City, too, as Jon Simpson could tell you.
While there were a number of arrests at the Mile High Music Festival yesterday, Simpson’s may well be the most high-profile. He appears to be the brother of Grammy Award- winner India.Arie, who was known as India Arie Simpson when she was growing up in Denver, the younger sister of a boy named J’on Simpson.
While we didn’t catch the beginning of Arie’s exceptional set on the First Bank Stage Saturday — which ended up being one of the highlights of the festival thus far — we heard that she seemed rather indignant when she referred to the incident from the stage.
According to Commerce City police officials, a 36-year-old Jon Simpson was arrested outside the venue at 6:30 p.m. July 18 on a theft by receiving charge, a misdemeanor, and then released with a summons to appear in court. No further details are available at this time; the police report hasn’t been made available yet, and
the city’s public information officer declined to provide any additional
information, citing an ongoing
investigation.
