Be afraid. Be very afraid. The inaugural Stanley Film Festival, which will run May 2 through May 5 this year in Estes Park, is holding an open house for fright-film fans and potential volunteers tonight.
The four-day Stanley Film Festival, which will celebrate the best in independent horror cinema, will host a roster of films, panels and receptions based at the Stanley Hotel, the model for Stephen King’s Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

Festival organizers will be holding a free kick-off party starting at 5:30 p.m. tonight, March 27, at the Sie FilmCenter, 2510 East Colfax Avenue, to offer a sneak peak of the festival program (including a full-length feature film) and encourage film lovers to volunteer for positions in one of five departments: Customer Service & Guest Relations, Hospitality Lounge, Special Events, Theater Operations & Production and Transportation. Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of fifteen hours; they’ll receive a festival volunteer pass giving them access to screenings, plus an official volunteer T-shirt.
