It seems you cant be a member of Zeüt, Saturday, October 21, at Hermans Hideaway, with Mind Go Flip and the Choir Boys, if you dont play at least two instruments. This requirement might help explain the bands tendency toward busy, harmonic nature-core music. Its a sunny stew thats well captured on Lion in a Bucket, Zeüts second full-length, released this year. The Denver act has undergone a few lineup changes since the discs recording — absent are violinist/vocalist Amy Moe, mandolin player Geoff Morris and bassist/vocalist T. Bruce Egbert — a fact that has allowed singer/flautist Kris VanDeWalker to flower as frontwoman and lyricist. The bands current incarnation has more to do with straightforward, get-up-and-dance music than cultural collisions, though lively percussion, the sporadic accent of wind instruments and bright, breezy melodies separate Zeüt from its less-adventurous peers.
