There are a number of excellent shows to let you know about this week, including Bruno Mars, Foals, Purity Ring, Band of Horses and Drive-By Truckers, all of which go on sale this week, plus dates from Leftover Salmon, Spiritualized, Bob Mould, Boris, the Rocket Summer, Shabazz Palaces/THEESatisfaction and Peelander-Z, which are on sale now. NEW SHOWS / ON SALE THIS WEEK


In one of the most ambiguous announcements in recent memory, Bruno Mars has announced that he’s coming to Denver this summer. There’s no word yet, however, on when or where he’ll be playing or when tickets will go on sale. Rest assured, though, you’ll know as soon as we do.

British act Foals, whose new album Holy Fire hits stores this week, is slated for a date at the Ogden Theatre on Tuesday, June 4, with Blondfire. General admission tickets for this show ($18) also go on sale this Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m.

On Monday, April 8, Band of Horses will be making its way back to Denver for a show at the Ogden Theatre. Tickets ($36.50) go on sale this Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m.

After a stunning pair of shows at the Larimer Lounge last year, Canadian duo Purity Ring is set to headline the Gothic on Monday, April 8, with Blue Hawaii. General admission tickets ($18) go on sale on Saturday, February 16, at 10 a.m.

On the heels of an upcoming solo date featuring Mike Cooley at the Larimer Lounge next week, the Drive-By Truckers are set to return to the Boulder Theater for a two-night stand on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13. Tickets for the show ($27.50) are on sale now.

There are also are a number of noteworthy upcoming shows at the Bluebird worthy of singling out. Leftover Salmon is slated to play a three-night stand from Thursday, March 28, through Saturday, March 30. Tickets ($35.75) are available.

On Thursday, April 4, Spiritualized is set to make its return to Denver. Tickets for this one ($28) are on sale now. Later in the month, Bob Mould is due for a show on Sunday, April 21. Tickets ($25) are also on sale now. Finally, on Tuesday, May 14, Boris is slated to return to town for a date at the Bluebird. Tickets ($17) are on sale now.

Rocket Summer hits the Summit Music Hall on Friday, April 5, and tickets ($14/$16) are on sale now, and look for a show from Peelander-Z at the Marquis Theater on Friday, March 22. Tickets for that one ($10-$12) are on sale now.

On Monday, May 6, Shabazz Palaces is slated to stop by the Larimer Lounge for a show with THEESatisfaction. No word yet on when tickets will go on sale, but we’ll keep you posted.
