What do you get when you combine a super-massive black hole, an eight-year-old Mars Rover, uncharted planets…and a couple of geniuses?

60 Minutes in Space, which debuts at 7 p.m. tonight in the Gates Planetarium at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

The free monthly series will showcase current trends in the out-of-this-world world of space exploration. Tonight’s edition features two speakers: Dr. David Grinspoon, curator of astrobiology and author of Lonely Planets: The Natural History of Alien Life, and Dimitri Klebe, DMNS space science content specialist.

They’ll be talking about recent discoveries of planets outside our solar system, as well as the Mars Rover known as Opportunity, which is now chugging into its eighth year. The other Rover, Spirit, was declared dead last May — but neither was supposed to last more than ninety days.
