Green was a popular color over the weekend while smokers celebrated 4/20. Yet somewhere in the haze of green clothes and smoke, stylish people were on trend with color blocking. Over the weekend, we talked to musician and Idaho native John Missy Kidd about his style icons, his favorite tune for 2013 and why he shops in the women’s department. Continue reading for more about Kidd’s style.

Name: John Missy Kidd.
Spotted at: 14th and Broadway.
Profession: Musician.
Favorite film: Amelie.
2013 jam: Lady Gaga’s “You and I.” I cover it when I play live sometimes.
Style inspirations/icons: Sting and Elizabeth Taylor.
Favorite color: Blue.
Favorite accessory: This bracelet.
Here he pairs his favorite bracelet with a ring and teal manicure.
Style mantra: Live in peace.
Shops at: H&M, and thrift shops.
On his love of womenswear: “I shop the women’s department at H&M. Women’s clothes are more fun; men’s clothes are drab. I also love urban street wear.”
Kidd remains sock-less in these black leather boots: “Socks are for the mundane and straight. I never wear socks,” he adds.
Style analysis: Many were focused on one color over the weekend: green. Kidd takes a risk and opts for the three primary colors: bright yellow hair, red shirt, and baby blue skinny jeans to craft a look all his own. Even though none of the colors match per say, when stacked on top of each other, they posses a visually strong appeal. Kidd’s animated sense of fashion coordinates with his highly animated personality, in a Judge Doom sort of way.
