Skip the holiday shopping headache and head for the hills instead: The ninth annual Leftover Yam Jam, in the Eagle Jib Park at Copper Mountain, is the perfect place to burn some post-feast calories and come down from your tryptophan trip.
“It’s a super-fun vibe up here for this contest every year,” says Morrison Hsieh, operations manager for Woodward at Copper, the mountain’s ski and snowboard school. “This is the first year the Woodward crew is taking over running the Leftover Yam Jam, so we’re putting in a brand-new, six-inch-diameter down rail, a new pyramid and some other new features. It should be pretty rad, and we’ll have lots of prizes from Woodward, Sims Snowboards, RED Protection, Anon Googles, YEA.NICE apparel, Candy Grind Gloves and Chipotle to give you plenty to be thankful for.”
The contest is open to skiers and snowboarders, with one division for pros and sponsored riders, and others for amateurs. Sign up for the contest by e-mailing your name, date of birth, discipline and class to woodward@coppercolorado.com, then stop by the Cage (Woodward’s shop near the base of American Eagle) between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. to get a discounted lift ticket for $34, fill out a waiver, and pick up your competition bib.
