If reading about the various artistic exploits of Yonnas Abraham has grown somewhat wearisome, you might want to go ahead and stop reading this post right now. Yesterday, we unwittingly stirred the ire of one particularly Concerned Fan with our item about the new BLKHRTS track. We suspect that same fan isn’t going to be any more thrilled with us today as we present the new video from The Pirate Signal for “Love in the Time of Swine Flu.”
Appearances to the contrary, it’s really not about playing favorites around here. As another astute commenter pointed out on that same BLKHRTS post, Abraham and his associates continue to put out compelling art. And as long as they keep doing that, well, we’ll keep writing about them. Unapologetically — not to stick a thumb in anyone’s eye, mind you, but simply because that shit is dope.
Witness the latest artifact, the brand-new video for “Love in the Time of Swine Flu,” directed by the band’s guitarist/keyboard player, Chez Strong (aka I AM UNICORN), with Dennis Flippin of Flippin Films: The soft focus of the clip and the overall stark tone and texture, as well as the Gaussian-like blurs and blends, perfectly matches the feel of the track, which you can download below for free. What’s more, it’s an apt artistic companion to the band’s last video, for “The Saga of Dirty Street Kids.”
Oh, and speaking of downloads, next week The Pirate Signal will be posting the entire No Weak Heart Shall Prosper album for free download.
