Mosaic
‘s sound is not for the jamophobic: The band’s overarching embrace of blues, funk and even countrified rock lies squarely on the freewheelin’, groove-happy side of the stylistic divide. But the dueling-frontwoman dynamic that exists between vocalist Jessica Goodkin and guitarist/vocalist Wendy De Rosa works as a grounding agent: Goodkin, a former leader of Chief Broom, growls with a saucy lead, while De Rosa chimes in sweetly and strums her guitar. The band is currently preparing to enter the studio to record a proper full-length, a follow-up to its self-titled acoustic EP released earlier this year. Though still slightly green — the band formed in 2001 — Mosaic is putting together the pieces of a sound that will surely please those who like a little boogie with their jam. Mosaic performs Friday, July 19, at Quixote’s, with Ross Martin and Friends.
