Ready for some vicarious adventure? The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour comes to the Boulder Theater tonight and tomorrow, then to Denver’s Paramount Theater on Thursday and Friday. Tonight’s program features eight films from the 35th annual festival held in the Canadian Rockies in October 2010, including Eastern Rises, a fly-fishing film that won Best Film On Mountain Sports; Best Short Mountain Film The Longest Way (chronicling Christopher Rehage’s aborted attempt to walk across China); Special Jury Mention winner Fly or Die, a rock-climbing/B.A.S.E.-jumping documentary from Boulder-based Sender Films; and white-water kayaking short Dream Result, the People’s Choice Award winner from the festival’s Radical Reels Night.
Photos and/or trailers from all eight of tonight’s films after the jump:
Kranked Kids: Just Down The Road, Radical Films, directed and produced by Bjørn Enga
Fly or Die, Sender Films, produced by Nick Rosen and Peter Mortimer
Will you step up to support Westword this year?
At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $20,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.
