When you’re searching for a delicious martini downtown, all you have to do is look up. A bright-blue neon martini glass — complete with a green neon olive and red neon swizzle stick — glows like a beacon on the facade of Marlowe’s, a longtime favorite of tourists, business types and loft-dwellers. In fact, this former bank turned upscale bar/restaurant has been popular since well before Denver had lofts.

The long, wooden bar is one reason why. The extensive martini list is another. From a roster of both frou-frou and classic options, we went with the Menagerie ($7). Made with Smirnoff Orange, Citrus and Raspberry vodkas mixed with cranberry juice and sweet and sour, the light-red martini garnished with a lemon is like Kool Aid for adults. And the Force 5 version and Bellini Tini finished a close second and third.

No matter how dismal your day, after a Marlowe’s martini or two, things will definitely be looking up.
