You can start planning now: The schedule for the 34th annual Starz Denver Film Festival, which runs November 2 through 13 at various venues throughout town, is now available online at the user-friendly Denver Film Society website. DFS member early ticketing opens Wednesday, October 19; the rest of the hoi polloi can swoop down on their tickets beginning on October 21. Some standouts? Read on:

Closing night features a bit of Denver Film Society nostalgia, with a screening of Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, the first film shown in 2002 at the opening of the Starz FilmCenter at Auraria.
Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling star in
Melancholia, a wedding story turned doomsday drama from Lars von Trier.
The Artist, from director Michel Hazanavicius, could be the most unique bit of film at this year’s fest: It’s a modern silent movie, filmed in black-and-white and set in Hollywood, circa 1927, at the dawn of the talkies.
