Who says sledding’s for kids? The Zipfy Mini Luge weighs just three and a half pounds, but a 250-pounder can theoretically ride it 80 miles an hour down the mountain.
Inspired by the luge and shovel sledding, riders sit on this tiny chunk of plastic and zoom feet first down the hill, using the lever for steering and stabilization. From the looks of some of the videos after the jump, it looks ideal for riding the powder on a Colorado fourteener or the slopes of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in summer — its weight is perfect for uphill hikes. According to the news page on Zipfy.com, one presumably certifiably insane guy even rode one down Everest.
Best of all, it’s only $40.
