If you don’t have the $12.50 admission price to cough up, you’re generally SOL on seeing the Denver Botanic Gardens — free days are not particularly common, and those prison-style walls pretty much preclude seeing so much as a shrub at no cost. This weekend, though, from tomorrow all the way through Sunday, it turns out you’re in luck — and you might even get some shopping done, too.

That’s because this weekend, the DBG is doing its annual Holiday Sale, bringing in some 45 artisans to hawk wares from art to accessories and a bunch of stuff in between. Peruse the racks, if you wish, or don’t. The gates are open all day, all weekend (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday), and there’s no requirement to buy.

And if it hasn’t exactly been the best weather lately for strolling around in the garden, well, you’d still better take what you can get: The DBG is not noted for its magnanimity.

Will you step up to support Westword this year?

At Westword, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $20,000 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $50,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of Westword, now’s the time to give back.

$50,000
