Art doesn’t have to be serious to be enjoyed, and Kym Bloom’s signature pop-culture mosaics made from Chiclets and other candies are proof. Bright and affordable, they painlessly put a bit of pure fun on your wall in the shape of video-game icons and other bitmapped characters. Bloom will have a trove of new pieces for this member show at Zip 37, which also includes jewelry made from antique watch parts.

Valkarie Gallery Studio
May 7 through June 1
Opening reception: 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 9
Susan Goldstein works in a variety of mediums, many of them photography-based, creating haunting, mirage-like images, prints and collages. This month her work is featured at Valkarie Gallery in Belmar, a Lakewood artist-run venue that makes room for several guest exhibitors annually, between member shows.
OH UM AH: New Works by Jackson Tupper

Opening reception: 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 10
Jackson Tupper reshapes the whimsical with elegant style in his well-designed images, blending simple lines of comic art into bold graphic shapes. Additional works by Deepti Nair, Mike Scarano and Svper Ordinary curator Pedro Barrios will share space with Tupper at the gallery/boutique space in the Source.
