Feeling a little randy? You’re not alone: Kinda Kinky, a saucy new CD released by Ursula 1000 on Thievery Corporation’s Eighteenth Street Lounge label, is being embraced by DJs and beat freaks the world over. A New Yorker by way of Miami, Ursula infuses lounge, ’60s pop and Latin with funky breakbeats to create an internationally flavored “now sound” style that recalls the whimsy of fellow globetrotters like Pizzicato 5. A fashionista as well as a favorite among electronic and rock artists, Ursula has performed with Felix Da Housecat and the Faint, and spiced up runways for Prada and Christian Dior. His virgin appearance in Denver will be this Saturday, April 19, with Thunderball at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom. Just don’t expect any Prada freebies.
