The local skate rag turned video ‘zine known as Fuck Off Zine will be unveiling Skateboarding Sucks tonight at Toeey’s Off Colfax. The film, screening at 8 p.m. (all ages) and 10 p.m. (21+) for $5, is the third installment of the FOZine video series documenting the best and worst of the Colorado skate scene, and also marks the twentieth anniversary of the print ‘zine.

“I had the bright idea to have the video premiere double as my bachelor’s party the weekend of my wedding, so there’s plenty to be stressed out about,” says FOZine editor Rob Stamm. “Hopefully there won’t be a riot at the premiere before I have to be in some wedding photos. Our parties tend to get kinda crazy.”

In addition to the fist fights and crude language that have been FOZine staples for twenty years, the new film features skateboarding from Julian Christianson (a Westword 2012 Best of Denver winner for Best Skateboarder), Matt Pennington, Dan Bernardino, Brian Patch and others.

“Julian Christianson did a switch heel flip down the big Civic, first try, and then did a switch hardflip down it first try right after that. Those are some of the most ground-shattering tricks ever done around here,” Stamm says. “So we have the new stuff from Julian and Matt Pennington, and then twenty years of highlights from throughout the history of FOZine. It should be pretty fun.”
