Having to make Valentine’s Day dinner reservations can be a sour experience — unless, of course, you’re planning an evening of all-you-can-sample sweets, like cakes, candies, chocolates and beer. That’s what the 31st annual Chocolate Lover’s Fling, which benefits the Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN), is all about.

“We have a sweetheart deal for couples: The event is $125 per person, but only $200 for couples,” says Chelsea O’Neil of SPAN. And since there will also be a live and a silent auction, you could buy your Valentine’s Day gifts right there. Some of the sweet stars on site include Bissinger’s Chocolates; Piece, Love & Chocolate; and Chocolove, along with Avery Brewing, Crystal Springs and Twisted Pine.

The fling runs from 7 to 11 p.m. at the UCAR Event Center, 3080 Center Green Drive in Boulder. Tickets are $125 per person, $200 for couples. Safehouse is a domestic-violence intervention and prevention agency serving Boulder and Broomfield counties. Online event registration is available at www.active.com or by calling 303-449-8623.
