Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
While SmartCo continues its march towards domination in southeastern metro Denver (with yet another store, SmartCo’s fifth, opening today in Littleton), northwest Denver is finally getting a new grocery store: Colorado Ranch Market, with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. today at 4860 Pecos Street.
That’s right in the heart of the Chaffee Park neighborhood, which was at risk of becoming a “food desert” after another grocery store in the area closed earlier this summer. Colorado Ranch Market (which is owned by Leevers Supermarkets, which runs the Save a Lot stores) received assistance from the Denver Office of Economic Development, including wage subsidies funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to help with this store.
