Independent Journalism in Denver Needs You
We need to raise $25,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
If music makes you move, you’re in luck: That’s what DJ M3‘s name stands for. (Okay, so it was originally “Marijuana motivates the mind.”) The Bay Area beat boy is still all about good-time vibes and uses his mixes to take a crowd as far as it’s willing to go. M3’s been building his rep for tight blends of thumping house and smooth funk since hitting the decks in 1990, working his way up by promoting other artists and spinning small gigs until he attained his own residencies on the club circuit. M3’s Green Gorilla Lounge label is behind a handful of studio releases and has hosted a bevy of hot events in the San Francisco region. The DJ gets around, playing parties with multiple partners, including DJ Markie Mark and Rick James, and traveling to places like Moscow, Prague and Paris. M3 heads our way this week for guest spots at Trilogy on Thursday, October 9, the Funky Buddha on Friday, October 10, and an underground party on Saturday, October 11.
