A Shoreline Dream has always been as much about the presentation as the music. Ryan Policky, the band’s creative driving force, puts just as much thought and care into how the music is delivered — from the artwork to the packaging — as he has into crafting the compositions. Here, Policky and company have put together a limited-edition set containing three discs (three, 3and III), each with separate pieces of artwork to accompany the three-song suites. In keeping with the theme of threes, the trio represents different time periods and sets of experiences, and while there are subtle distinctions between the recordings — some songs are more driving than others, for instance — overall, they adhere to the ethereality of the pensive guitar-driven shoegaze sound that A Shoreline Dream has expertly honed and become known for over the years. This is definitely a dream worth catching.
