Civic Center Eats has morphed over the years from its funky beginnings as an urban lunch-hour farmers’ market to a bi-weekly food-truck party — and, as Civic Center Conservancy director Lindy Eichenbaum Lent notes, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
“There’s only so much room in the park, but we’ll have lots of new vendors and old favorites, too,” she adds. “We’ll have more tables, umbrellas and chairs. Other than that, we’ll have the same diverse, authentically local food and the same great energy.”
There’s little that could go wrong with that tried-and-true formula, which also includes a serenade of live music while you dine al fresco in the park.
The outdoor food experience kicks off today at Colfax Avenue and Bannock Street in Civic Center Park, and continues most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through September 27; if you’re caught empty-handed, there will be an on-site ATM available.
