With a moniker that means “lucid canvas” in Spanish, the Littleton-based Lucida Tela draws from a varied palette on this self-titled effort. Prog-rock remnants of the band Tryst — some of whose members are now in Lucida Tela — can be heard on cuts like “Temperal Illusion” and the odd-metered “Mirror,” but the act also has a decent handle on dynamics, traversing epic builds and quieter moments on the opener, “Tactician and the Lung.” “Rescinded” begins as a floaty ambient cut, buoyed by echo-laden guitars, before ramping into an elastic groove, while “Monster Chi,” coated with a layer of synths, feels a bit out of place with the rest of the album. Working with a number of tonal colors, Lucida Tela has crafted an intriguing eight-song collection.
