The fourth annual Sports Authority Rock ’N’ Roll Marathon and Half Marathon will welcome more than 16,000 participants to the city of Denver today. Starting at the State Capitol, at Lincoln and Colfax, and traveling through downtown, racers will run to the sounds of live bands, cheering teams and entertaining watering holes along every mile of a course that highlights stunning views and Denver landmarks.

This year, beginners can partake in the run’s newest addition, a 3.7-mile mini-marathon. “The mini-marathon has been a success in many cities, and we’re excited to offer this option in Denver, as it widens the scope of participants who can enjoy the event,” explains organizer Alan Culpepper. “We often see beginners inspire themselves by completing this distance, returning the following year for a bigger challenge.” P>A celebratory finish-line festival at Civic Center Park includes food, drink, and a post-race concert from headliner Atlas Genius. The Rock ’N’ Roll Marathon begins at 6:45 a.m.; to register, or for more information about the various events, visit runrockn-roll.competitor.com/denver.
