The 40 West Arts District invites you to “get your galactic groove on” with its sci-fi-themed Fall Arts Harvest Exhibition, opening today in Lakewood. The intergalactic display will showcase artists who are interpreting space travel and scientific innovation through paintings, glass art, sculpture, photography and digital art.

“We have scientists who are artists in our group who bring a different sensibility around technology and space,” says 40 West’s Julie Byerlein. “We asked people to channel their inner [Isaac] Asimov, if you will, and kind of just think about, ‘What does that translate to in any medium?’ It’s all about bringing something new and different to the neighborhood here on West Colfax.”

The juried show opens today and will run Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. though November 9 at 40 West, 1560 Teller Street in Lakewood. A post-opening reception will be held on November 1 as part of Denver Arts Week. For more information, visit 40westarts.org.

Tuesdays-Saturdays; Fri., Nov. 1, 4-7 p.m. Starts: Oct. 15. Continues through Nov. 9, 2013
