When Sergio and Roxanne Negrin moved to Colorado last year, they brought the beaches of Florida along with them. Because Frijoles Colorado Cuban Cafe, the restaurant they opened last summer in a Lakewood strip mall, is infused with the sunny spirit of their former home.

The restaurant is a family affair, and the Negrins are assisted by their son as well as Roxanne’s mother, Ana. Together, the group turns out a menu of Cuban specialties that spans empanadas, sandwiches, pulled pork and ropa vieja — and they make everything in house, right down to the bread.

For this week’s review, I stopped by Frijoles to soak up its sunny atmosphere, as well as just about everything on the menu, including the kitchen’s nightly specials.

How was the food? Find out tomorrow when the review is posted here.
