“Creating good food is a little like rocking out a good set on the dance floor,” says Adriana Aguilar. “It’s about making people feel satisfied with their experience.”
Last fall, after a dozen years of spinning around the country as DJ Miss Audrey, Aguilar gave up the music business in order to help her mother, Marie Gibson, out at Melita’s Greek Cafe & Market, which took over the former Economy Greek Deli space at 1035 Lincoln Street.
“It’s funny to be referred to as ‘Miss Audry’s Mom’ by some of her fans who come into the cafe,” says Gibson. “It makes me really proud to be the mother of a local celebrity.”
In this week’s Cafe, Andy Thomas offers a taste of what it’s been like for Aguilar to move from behind the decks to behind the stove.
