The GI Bill is our nation’s way of thanking veterans for their sacrifices — and those sacrifices continue. Specifically, some of the education benefits intended to help vets attend college haven’t shown up yet — and, in case you haven’t noticed, school’s been in session for quite a while now. Things have gotten so bad for some former soldiers that the Department of Veterans Affairs is inviting impacted students to visit field offices around the country — including the one at 155 Van Gordon Street in Lakewood — beginning at 8 a.m. this morning and receive up to $3,000 to cover costs. Cash on the barrel head, baby — and it’s about time.
