After establishing himself as one of the founding fathers of the East Coast rave scene during the early ’90s, New York’s DJ Micro became one of the most recognizable faces in American dance music. As founder of the seminal label Caffeine, Micro created one of the key underground forces that eventually catapulted the style into the mainstream. From his humble beginnings at warehouse raves and the original Caffeine parties to his relentless touring schedule and prolific releases as a recording artist for Moonshine Music, Micro (due at Vinyl this Saturday, July 8) embodies dance music’s evolution, with mixes that layer elements of trance and house over breakbeats for a sound that is unmistakably his own.
